MAS Social Services Foundation (MAS-SSF) is a local non-profit organization that aids families at large and the Muslim community in particular with their social service needs. MAS-SSF  provides social services to Muslim families and seeks a Youth Coordinator.

MAS-SSF is a leading advocate for the social services needs of the community, providing peer specialist support in the multiple languages representing the Muslim population, with projects targeting youth, seniors, families, and community education.

20 hours a week @ $17.00 hourly rate

Position Summary 

The Youth Coordinator’s essential duties will be to coordinate and support the Amala Hopeline to ensure it is running smoothly and efficiently. They will help support the TAY (Transitional Aged Youth)  Advocacy Youth deliverables. Other duties include following up and scheduling meetings and assisting with event planning and execution.

Amala Hopeline is a youth warm line dedicated to preventing isolation in the community for Muslim Youth ages 18-30. Muslim Youth Peer supporters undergo a 20-hour training in order to serve the youth and provide them with support and resources as needed in a safe and confidential space during our open hours. The Hopeline is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6 – 10 pm.

Muslim TAY Advocacy Program specializes in bringing mental health and wellness awareness to the community through our programs, resources, and workshops. This new program is no exception. Our mission through this program is to create an environment for youth to feel empowered and capable to stand up for their rights to be involved in decision-making at the local and state level.

Required language competency:

  • Fluency in English
  • College-level English reading and writing skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate online resources
  • Attending meetings and taking minutes
  • Responding to emails and answering calls
  • Maintaining program calendars and sending out reminders of impending appointments
  • Typing letters and reports as may be required
  • Compiling and sending bulk mailings
  • Proofreading and making copies of documents
  • Assisting in the planning and overseeing youth events
  • Relaying internal emails to staff
  • Manage youth volunteers
  • Schedule monthly meetings with peer supporters
  • Schedule check-in meetings with TAY Program participants
  • Facilitate onboarding process for Amala Peer Supporters
  • Help recruit volunteers
  • Manage Youth Social Media
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Is proficient in the use of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates familiarity with basic office equipment
  • Exhibits friendly and professional demeanor
  • Works well with a range of different individuals
  • Possesses excellent phone etiquette
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper compositional practices to aid in writing and proofreading
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills
  • Communicates clearly, politely, and effectively
  • Demonstrates ability to think creatively to assist in special event planning and marketing
  • Is capable of leaving the office to run errands throughout the day
  • Demonstrates excellent time-management skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • An Associate’s Degree is preferred
  • Company-sponsored orientation and training required prior to start date
  • Experience participating in youth programs
  • Experience working with diverse populations

Work Environment

  • Virtual position with occasional requirement to be in office
  • Some overtime may be required during the planning and execution of special events
  • Will need to be available some weekends
  • Some light local travel to run errands may also be required
  • Moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, and light lifting is involved in many daily activities

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to the Deputy Executive Director
